Bought this spring compressor as it was recommended on a forum for my particular vehicle when replacing the rear springs. The vehicle itself is an SUV with independent rear suspension so the springs are rather beefy. When this thing arrived, I was surprised at the weight of the box. It was heavy. Inside, the spring compressor was packaged nicely in its own case. Upon using it, wow. Definitely a hell of a lot beefier than those little threaded rod type compressors that car guys know as 'widow makers.' The perches that go against the spring actually have a slot they fit into, and then bolt in. Also, when using this thing, turning it takes little to no effort which makes me feel safe as those widow makers seem to require crazy amounts of torque and feel like they'll let go of the springs. All-in-all, this thing was a champion. So far I've only used it on one project, but I think whenever I do suspension work again, this will be my go-to. My widow makers have found their way to the back of one of my garage shelves, and this tool will be my primary method of compressing springs from here on out!

Very happy with item , we can now replace our own struts , will not have to go to get a garage to replace our struts .

The small set of brackets is not small enough to work with ATV struts or shocks. It does seem like a quality product.

Utilisé pour remplacer les 4 amortisseurs de ma voiture, le kit a bien fait le travail. L’ensemble est de bonne facture, bien graissé, et donne une vraie impression de solidité avec un métal de qualité. Les mâchoires s’adaptent facilement aux ressorts, ce qui rend l’utilisation plutôt pratique. Petit bémol : les protections jaunes s’abîment assez vite, et les petites vis de sécurité des mâchoires ne sont pas toujours simples d’accès. Globalement, bon outil pour un usage occasionnel ou mécanique maison. Je recommande.

Just barely works for a BMW E60 with sport suspension. The biggest spring cups fit. To compress to remove from the car, I had to put the lower cup underneath the strut spring seat. There was a very small window of tolerance to where you can place the cups where you will compress the spring enough to get a new top mount installed and/or get the assembly back under the fender without getting the upper cup pinched in between the spring and the mount. I had to remove the set screw and knock the upper adapter around the spring a bit by hand to get it out on one side. My own individual fit issues aside, this compressor seems like basically the same thing you would get paying more from Bavauto or other car-specific vendors. There are no sharp edges or misdrilled holes. The compressor itself operated well and is very substantial. I oiled the screw and the upper and lower carriers and used an impact driver a few seconds at a time to avoid heating the threads too much.

Prima in gebruik , spindel gaat redeljk snel. Zitten boutjes bij welke / waarmee het lijjt alsof je dd veerschotels vastzet op de spindel : maar dat doet het niet . Veerschotels blijven los op de spindel. Ff om denken als je het scheef of opzij houdt... Verder goede prijs kwaliteit

LET OP: deze veercompressor is helaas niet te gebruiken voor LINKS-gewonden veren, dus het is niet universeel. Voor rechts-gewonden veren is het een uitstekend apparaat. D.w.z. qua functie werkt het slechts voor de helft doordat het niet universeel is als je zowel links- als rechts-gewonden veren moet de- en monteren, maar aangezien 2,5 sterren daarvoor niet te geven is, maak ik er 2 van. Ook moest ik het apparaat iets aanpassen om voor de kleinste verenmaat te werken vanwege de afstand tussen de windingen van de veren. Als deze verencompressor wel universeel was geweest, waren het 5 sterren voor alles geweest.
