I used this step drill to cut a hole in a stainless steel sink. It worked very well. I first drilled a pilot hole (not sure if necessary but I took some advice) and then used the step drill to cut the hole to size (~ 1" in this case). Make sure to use cutting oil for both drilling operations.

The bits are really good, was able to tap 12 5/8 holes with one of theses bits. It did slow down quite a bit after the fourth hole even with cutting fluid, however for the price they work better than expected
