Great help
Outstanding quality, pretty safe to replace struts. It holds the spring well. Already replaced 6 struts and still looks good.

Feels a lot safer than those threaded rod type compressors!
Bought this spring compressor as it was recommended on a forum for my particular vehicle when replacing the rear springs. The vehicle itself is an SUV with independent rear suspension so the springs are rather beefy. When this thing arrived, I was surprised at the weight of the box. It was heavy. Inside, the spring compressor was packaged nicely in its own case. Upon using it, wow. Definitely a hell of a lot beefier than those little threaded rod type compressors that car guys know as 'widow makers.' The perches that go against the spring actually have a slot they fit into, and then bolt in. Also, when using this thing, turning it takes little to no effort which makes me feel safe as those widow makers seem to require crazy amounts of torque and feel like they'll let go of the springs. All-in-all, this thing was a champion. So far I've only used it on one project, but I think whenever I do suspension work again, this will be my go-to. My widow makers have found their way to the back of one of my garage shelves, and this tool will be my primary method of compressing springs from here on out!

Fastest and seemed safer
Easy for one person to use. Others it seems like I have used need 3-5 hands to get everything set right. Worked perfect building new struts for 5th gen 4runner and aftermarket springs and are sold by Eastwood for $200. I got these for $71 before Christmas and they all look like they are made in same place with different names. Vevor has a lot of specialty tools I like to have to do my work myself if I can.

Pleased with these.
Bought to help with a Range Rover P38 spring conversion kit. Firstly the build on these things gives confidence that they are not going to take your head off, unlike the cheaper types. Experimenting I was able to compress the spring (which is very beefy) by about 35mm without too much trouble. The issue is that this only compresses one side of the spring, curving it. I bound the compressed side wit 20 turns of paracord to maintain the compression and then compressed the other side. I could have done this with my hydraulic press but the shape of the spring holders on this thing gives one the confidence that the springs are not going to slip.
