Great "Bones" for the price.👌
Quality/ premium tools come at a cost which Ive always accepted when tools were my way of earning a living. When it comes to handyman work and mancave tinkering, I look for well priced tools with good bones that I can easily mod from a okay tool to a great tool.
Pros: This tungsten blade steel cutoff saw is one of those bargains.
The base and hinge assy is solid with no noticeable movement.
The fence is cast steel and solid held by M10 bolts.
The sawblade look reasonable. Ill test it tomorrow.
Cons:
The drive gear (motor to blade spindle) it quite loud. I suspect that it's a straight cut gear not a bevel cut gear but that to be expected for the price. I accept that.
The fence when loosened off slops around like a ____ in a top hat. Having a fence with a tight pivot is high on the list of must haves for me. Particularly because the angle cutting scale is typically very inaccurate.
Easy fix if you're reasonably handy. Ive done a basic fix which anyone with basic skills can do. Later Ill push a 14mm mill through the pivot hole and machine up a brass bush to press in but this fix I did for those without a lathe.
I had some 12mm OD tubing. I drilled the pivot hole with a 12mm drill bit which is actually 11.9mm and pressed in a piece of tubing 12.5mm long. Then used a dress press to drill a 10mm hole through the tube bush.
I placed a 12mm ID washer over the bush then replaced the M10 bolt + M10 washer.
Now the pivot action is smooth and snug.
For the rear angle locking bolt, put a large M10 washer under the existing bolt so the fence can rotate without getting caught on the punched cutting angle numbers.
I also added a cable clip to the power cord to ensure that it doesn't get caught up in the cutting blade as it sits very close to the blade.
Set-up.
Next, take your time to set the fence to exactly 90deg for a square cut with the two bolts locked down. Now with a sharp scribe score the saw bed against the fence down to the bare steel. Now when you set the fence to a square cut you can do it quickly.
Do the same for a 45deg and scribe the base. J generally only do 90s and 45s which I can no set the saw in seconds.
I hope this info helps someone.
Just to add, powder coating is very slippery so with angle cuts it's almost impossible to stop the fence from moving as you tighten the clamp. Use a flap disc and rough up the underside of the fence. I also roughed up the area under the fence to improve grip.

Just used for the first time as been away since arrival, cut great 50 mm tube quickly with ease, power trigger fells a little strange , like a delayed start. Well l’m hopeful that what it is and not a problem. Otherwise it will be a much better option than a grinder.

Built like a tank
This saw works really well and is built for heavy duty use. The saw cuts so easy and does it with ease, just the locking block is difficult to get and keep straight as it doesn’t cut straight out of the box it requires a bit of fiddling with a square to get it to cut straight. Overall a very good saw with plenty of power.

Serious bit of kit.
Chops beautifully. The clamp situation isn't amazing but that's easily fixed and it's fine for straight cuts.
Very little heat generated considering how fast it cuts.

Very useful machine
I have a friction cut off saw, but that heats up the metal and burns the paint off. To get around that issue, I bought this cold saw.
I'm very impressed with the speed and quality of the cut. I had to adjust the vice so the metal is cut square, but once that is set all the subsequent cuts were perfectly square.
The only drawback I can see is that the angle markings on the vice are not very accurate. It means that you have to cut and check a few times to get the angle right before doing the final cuts. But that is no different to my Makita friction cut off saw.
I can use this saw inside my garage without worrying about sparks and dust, and the cut metal is cold and won't burn you when you pick it up.

Wow!
Should've bought this ages ago, clean straight cuts, no grinding off burrs and cool to touch straight after cutting. Definitely a game changer.
I recommend buying one!
