It's a little more than the conventional type but allows rotation also in the direction perpendicular to that of the base. Seems sturdy. The vertical rotation is lock tightened by the force of the main handle and not the smaller side handles whose purpose appears to be just positioning. Btw, no instruction manual is bundled - only a specifications pamphlet. The make is VEVOR model no 9466 jaw width 6" weighing just over 19kg according to the shipping box. The zero point of the degree scale is right on the money in the sense that the base and upper side of the main jaws are parallel at that point. Only 2 imperfections are found. The V groove replaceable jaws on the pipe side are offset about 2mm from the centerline of the body but are parallel with the main jaws on the other side and seems to touch at all 4 tangential points on a test piece of 48mm thick walled pipe. (Not sure if the base material is weldable being cast iron for moving the mounting holes if perfection is seeked. Otherwise new jaws to absorb the offset is a possibility.) And the handle bar is slightly bent as also mentioned by another reviewer. It seems to have happened after mounting on the spindle as judged by an arc marking on the bar at the bend matching the hole in the spindle. But there is no visible markings on the edge of the hole in the spindle. And no serious damage to the shipping box tho there is a small hole in the box where the end of the handle might have been but no shortage of space for the handle bar. Perhaps the box was thrown or dropped and landed unluckily. Be aware that Amazons description says this model has upgraded guide rail (for which reason this model was selected). Not sure if that's as compared to an earlier version of itself or the 6.5" model no 9467 which is the closets other size but which weighs slightly less and provides slightly less clamping force. The mounting bolts with nuts but no washers are M12x60. Haven't used it enough yet to tell how much abuse it will take

I use it in my garage ideal for general work , I find it very good with the options available ,descent quality , might not be ideal for workshop where it would get alot of use especially heavy work

Missing some mounting hardware (3 of 4) bolts present on arrival but excellent otherwise. Wiorka great, solid construction quality

This vice looks heavy duty, and for the most part it is, but I bought this vice specifically for pessing u joints into drive shafts. The clamping force was underwhelming. The functionality however is amazing. It turns at every angle I need and holds what I need it to. The measuring mechanism on the back hasn't stuck properly since day 1 but I never use that part anyway. If you are looking for a medium duty vice with versatility then this is your vice. If you need excessive clamping force, you will need to look for something else.

I bought this on impulse. Been wanting a bench vice for ages. Really liked the swivel jaws as it works for pipe a lot better than trying to jam it into the flat jaws. So far it has been a great thing. No complaints.

Mine came with bend handle, but all-in-all, great and precise tool. Sturdy and handy, no usability complaints. The bent handle could be hammered back, but it's hard to imagine how it could be damaged as it was not an easy task.
