It should slice your meat paper thin, once you get used to the slide and the way it works on yours. i've sliced honey-ham paper thin. in fact, that's the main reason we bought the slicer! i was sick and tired of deli workers telling me you can't slice meat that thin, when i'd done it myself for years working at an old-fashioned cheese factory/store. the only advice i'll give you is to make sure your meat is good and cold-just short of freezing.
