It works great on the longer blade knives but short pocket knifes don’t extend past the holder. Must do some fudging to sharpen the shorter blades.

Can't give it 5 stars but it's a solid 4. It will not allow you to sharpen a narrow, short bladed pocket knife. I actually honed my Powermatic wood planer knives with it and it did pretty good holding the proper angle. You do need to retighten the thumbscrews during a session or give em a little hi-yah with some pliers. Pretty pleased overall.

All looks good had to purchase a level meter to set angle (no problem extra tool in the bag) still getting time to sit and sharpen knives

Compared to my previous sharpener it's a way better value at half the price. You get 12 good quality sharpening stones. It's takes little more to assemble but very easy to use. My only con is that I can't sharpen my small EDC knife. But I used the stones and freehanded it and got a nice edge. I really like the storage case. My other sharpener didn't come with a case and it only came with 3 stones and cost twice as much. I recommend getting this sharpener. You'll be happy with it's performance.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: It seemed the best to sharpen my knives at the time. Durability: This is the 2nd time the same part has broken on two different sets. The first one came with it broken and I go a replacment. The 2nd one worked the first time and did a great job, but when I was going to use it again I noticed that the same part as the 1st one was broken as well. This part should be made of metal not plastic as it holds a spring to keep the stones in place.
