Just pay someone to do it....

Replacing a RV awning is always awful no matter what. Would rather eat a jean jacket then do this again. The tarp was good quality but where the stitching was the thread was all balled up so the awning would not slide. However, my hubby and I are not divorced so I guess it all turned out ok.

Best price, but thin and folded shipment damages the product.

This unit was about $100, which is significantly less than the previous awning I replaced, however I believe the shipping method causes damage which will likely shorten its life. It is also significantly thinner material which will also shorten its life. It may be good value for the money, time will tell however considering that the entire installation took several hours, and that my time has some value, the savings may not be ever realized. The unit arrived folded, and packed in a strong cardboard box. I question the wisdom of packing and awning in a square box. I've done awning Replacements before, but they were always on rolls. Rolls eliminated the folds, and the weak points that you can see in the awning pictures. Initially the awning showed a lot of creases, but by using some tarp stretchers applied along the spreader bars of my awning I was able to reduce many of the wrinkles on a hot day. I still worry about the thin spots where you can see more light, although at present it's not leaking. Additionally the awning includes a balance as an attached piece of fabric. This results in the awning valance being too loose on my rollers. It wrinkles up and bunches and doesn't hang properly. I haven't had this problem when the awning included a separate piece of valance.
