Great for making knives.
Great for small projects I've used it for making knives. I bought it as an anvil to get started with until I can get a bigger one. It's black not blue I'm not sure why they list it as blue but I like the black better.

Heat treatment
The heat treatment isn't deep enough. Still a solid anvil for the price and size

Excellent Quality
I have used this anvil a few times. I pounded some items on it with a small sledge hammer, and it easily stood up to the pounding. It is quite heavy, and does not move at all when hammering. I would definitely recommend this for typical household/shop use.

Great anvil for beginners
Rated 4 out of 5 stars because I had a few small issues. That being said, this is a great beginners anvil. I_l now go into detail about my issues. For starters, this anvil is on the lighter side, but I knew that when I bought it. For the beginners out there, just know that for an every day use or for large projects, you_l want a 120lb+ anvil. When trying to mount it to my anvil base, I realized that the hardy/tool holes were too small to get a socket down for installation. The casting was a little poor and unfinished. I remedied this by simply building some mounting brackets out of mild steel flat bar and mounting from either side instead of from the ends and through the anvil feet. My final complaint is that I actually cracked the edge of the anvil with a glancing blow while trying to forge a knife to point. I remedied this by simply grinding the striking face edges into about a 1/4 bevel. Other than that, this is an absolutely fantastic beginners anvil, especially for the money. Great hardness and rebound. Quiets up nicely with a chain or strong magnet. Would purchase again.

Good Little Starter Anvil, Shipling Department Needs Some Work
Great, inexpensive starter anvil! I purchased this for my husband to use with his starter forge. Works as expected, no issues. Whomever packaged it put it, though, did so in the flimsiest piece of cardboard they could find though put together with a crap-ton of packing tape. It arrived with the untaped portion of the box shredded off and 1/4 of the anvil exposed and scuffed up. Didn't make a difference to my husband for what he was using it for, but I wasn't pleased about it since I was giving it to him as a gift. Just glad it didn't get stolen off the porch!

66lbs Anvil, actual weight was 67.8lbs. NICE!
Well I got it in blue, was hopping for the black as others had mentioned. I "heat an beat" on some cold roll 3/4" square stock round, made a heck of a nice holdfast with this anvil for this anvil. worked real nice. I used silicone rubber mats under it and clamped down to stop the nice ring it rang. Bests value for a "real steel" anvil i have found thus far. Remember the 66lbs is good steel, the 55lbs is iron...
