I am looking for a dc motor to power my metal mill. I would use a 240vac to 48vdc power supply. What will I need to control the speed of the motor.

Electric vehicle speed knob, or 10K potentiometer. However, the potentiometer cannot be rotated all the way, and the knob can only be rotated about 80%. If it is exceeded, the machine will stop.
