Hi, when I turn the unit on it works fine but after about 20/30 sec there is 'smoke' coming from the unit near the oil cap. It is not a burning smell. Unit unit seems to do what it is designed to do but the smoke is of concern. Is this normal?
This is normal; vacuum pumps produce oil mist during operation. Be sure to add oil before use and ensure the oil level is at the midpoint on the oil sight glass.
The air being drawn in will be expelled through the filter on top of the oil tank.
