Can the oil connection point be swapped to the other side of the pump (where the blank plug is)? The hose is too short to reach right over the pump body

Yes, the oil connection can be swapped to the other side where the blank plug is. Both ports are SAE#6 (9/16") with the same thread and size. You can move the hose to the plug side and seal the original port with the plug.
