This product is a copper-brazed plate heat exchanger. The solder is copper, which is a heavy metal. It can be used in food if your food requirements are not so strict. The copper ions are relatively stable. But if you are demanding, we recommend you not to use it for food.

Will cool a beer brew down to 30c quickly

This product uses partition wall heat exchange. If you want it to cool down quickly to 30°C, then it depends on the temperature of the cold side. If the cold side temperature is very low, it can cool down quickly.

Would the 60 plate B12-60 unt be suitable for heating honey from 36 deg C to 65deg C? My main concern is blocking of the small gaps in the unit with wax particles. Is a double tube heat exchanger better suted to heating hney/

We don't recommend that you heat the honey, it's sticky and particulate and can clog up the passages.
