I haven't had a chance to use it yet....but for that price I had to buy it.i measured them all with a micrometer...dead on ....can't wait to try them out

I purchased this tool to reinstall the outdrive on my boat. After many attempts, I could not get this alignment tool to fit in the 1-3/8" opening. At first, I thought perhaps the wrong bearing had been installed. So I borrowed the same type of alignment tool from a mechanic friend, and it worked fine. I think the tool was manufactured slightly oversized.

The alignment tool was not sized correctly to fit into the gimbal bearing. It was too big. Thought maybe there was a protective coating and tried to remove it with some emery cloth but it did not work. We tried to fit the original bearing and it would not fit. Tried to put it through the replacement bearing and it did not go through the bearing. Rest of the kit appears okay.

I received this tool in March, looked ok. Couldnt wait to try it. Finally pulled the stern drive off the boat at end of May. Tried the alignment tool, and it would not fit through the gimble bearing. Slightly too large in diameter. Why would a manufacturer produce a tool with incorrect measurements? It has a specific purpose to be a alignment tool, so it is critical the measurements are accurate! So either I pay a machinist to machine correct diameters on the shaft, or I source a new alignment from a different supplier.
