With the knob, the axes can be moved manually, which facilitates the carving tool settings. The driving units consist of stainless steel screw rods. It uses double copper nuts to clear round trip errors.
  • Excellent Motor: This CNC engraving machine is equipped with three stepper motors(1.3A; 12V; 0.25 Nm torque) and 775 DC(12-24V) 24V spindle motors with a rotational speed of 10000 r/min. And the engraver supports Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Linux, macOS system, and other software to directly import JPG, BMP, PNG, DXF format files for engraving.
  • Upgraded Control Board: The integrated GRBL control features full functionality and stability. And the advantages of the offline controller lies in the following ones: 1. No need to connect to the computer; 2. Arbitrary selection of offline files for engraving. 3. Manually adjust the X, Y, and Z axes position as the engraving starting point, manually turn on or off the spindle.4. High precision: less than 0.003 inches.

Would this be suitable to laser details on to plastic cattle tags? Will the details be in black if on a yellow tag?

You can try to engrave on non-white plastic surfaces. Transparent or white ones are not easy to engrave because they do not absorb heat easily. If you engrave on a yellow label, the color of the engraving will be black.

Fantastic, I have been impressed with everything I have purchased from vevor and this little 3018 is no exception. Laser works better than expected but I do wish I had the option of buying the 5w laser diode as an upgrade but the 2.5w is great for its size. I have successfully made some nice little 3d wood carvings with the spindle which does a great job especially considering the price. I have a much larger cnc and separate large laser which cost a lot more than this and to be honest I just wanted to play with this one and have a bit of fun. If you're after a good little machine to start you off into the cnc world then this one is perfect, I don't know how you keep bringing quality products for the price vevor but keep it up and I'll will definitely be an ongoing customer.

3018 Pro - A Great Introduction to CNC
The 3018 Pro CNC machine arrived within 2 days (in Sept 2022). The well packaged kit was complete & it only took 2 hours to assemble when following the easy-to-read instructions on paper (with video link to assist if needed). It worked first time and (for a newcomer to CNC) was easy to begin carving small shapes in timber & plastic with no problems, provided you don't push it too hard. Have not used the 2.5W Laser module yet, but I tested that it works OK. Contrary to some older reviews, I have found this CNC Router to be complete, very well made and provides good accuracy for the things I want to make. There was virtually no discernible "looseness" anywhere that might otherwise affect the end result. Very impressed with the overall quality and value for money.

Great Laser/CNC for a beginner (which I am) easy to setup and use. AAA+, Highly recommended!!! I also watched a video on setting the parameters on YouTube, but that is not required it was something I did for myself. Other then that the whole experience of using this item has been a joy and has expanded the range of things i can create with my Leathercraft.

I was trying to leave feedback for a later time when I have put it into use. But, packaging arrived undamaged, all parts & assembly went well enough & the unit appears durable enough for my needs, which is to make iconic key rings, badges for my makes, laser etching of small wood items. My only gripe so far is the Instruction booklet of which, needs more comphrensive detailing to address any add-ons & their connections, the electronic diagram for some parts are not stated whether they are positive or negative and their limits, which if connected the wrong way would cause the buyer to loose their warranty.
